Letter to Jen

Hi Jen,

Wow, I was happy and surprised to get your email.  I thought I had the wrong email address for you.  I was worried we might not see each other again.  And here you are.  Sorry for responding late, as I wanted to find some quality quiet time to write back to you.  Today is the first day I have had any time for myself.  Not that I’m complaining as I’m getting my newest business off the ground.  With everything “all systems go”, I’m very excited but tired.

The last few weeks were both exciting and hectic.  Ever sense I got back from South Africa, I was arranging and finalizing the purchase of the business property in West Wales that I mentioned to you around the pool.  Being a business property for my new boat building business, it has had many more twists and turns then a normal property.  The day your email arrived was the same day I took ownership of the new property, so I had two big reasons to have a big smile (you and the property).  I threw a bit of a party at the local pub, to thank all the new local friends I’ve made that have given me support and help on the purchase of my new property and the new business.  The locals have been great, better then I first expected.  St. Davids is small and a very vary local town, with very close local family ties.  I thought, me being a new stranger in town, it would take more time for me to fit in.  But they seem to like me 🙂

As my first home is in Bath UK, I also needed to find a second place to live in St. Davids.  I had looked for weeks, but no joy.  But a few days after your email I found a house and moved in.  It’s a great place, right in town, with great views.  I was going to have a house-warming the day I moved in, but didn’t as it turned out to be Valentines Day and most people had other plans.  So that night was a bit of a quiet night for me, so I went to the pub with the other ‘Lonely Hearts’.  It was great, as the pub had some silly things going on for the night.

Last week I went to Birmingham at the NEC, to attending a boat and caravan tradeshow.  It was a big show with many interesting things for my new boat business.  It was on for most of last week and weekend.  The last few weeks I have done lots of travelling, but nothing like your world travels.  Where are you now?  Where are you going next?

Now that I finally have some time for myself, I’m going to relax.  Pembrokeshire St. Davids area is a play ground.  You will have to come and see it all for yourself.  So many things to do and I plan to do a lot in the coming weeks.  I will go fishing off the rocks.  I bought some new fishing gear, clothing, rods and reels.  There are so many places to fish within walking distance, it will be easy.  I could do a fish cook-up in my new place, but it won’t be as good as what the ‘Master Chef Jen’ could do with fish and squid. 😉   I can’t wait for my first boat to be finished so I can go fishing off of it, but for now the rocks will do.  I hear that squid is caught off the coast here.  I plan to give it a try this summer.  I’ll freeze some up for you to cook when you get back from your world travels.

I went shopping in the Bath M&S the other day, they had totally moved and remodelled the coffee shop.  I was surprised as I was going to the changing rooms and walked in to the well hidden coffee shop.  I first thought of you, did you have a hand in this move job before you left M&S?  This reminds me of your new restaurant adventure, and the opportunity of your travels to find new worldly recipes and ideas.  Would you please send me from time-to-time a new recipes and ideas by email, so I could get a feel of the food’s your eating while on your travels.  It would also be a good way for you to think of foods as a consumer.  Be the critic on the road.  Are you keeping a ‘Chef Jen’ journal for your restaurant ideas?  Not just for recipes, but for stories about the décor, people eating, owners, chefs, locations, menus…etc.  I wish I had kept a world journal of my travels for business ideas and for just remembering the finer details of my travels.

How is your red-belly?  Did it peel?  Has it turned a dark brown?  My feet, with the dark tanned strap marks, is still a dark tan.  For some reason I think of your red belly when I look at my strap marked feet!!!  I think it will be tan stripped entail next spring.  I’m sure you will have a very good all body tan by now…oh…oh…can I see?  😉

Want are some of your experiences while travelling?  How is Odet? (spelling?)  Are you two keeping to your budgets?  Why were you in Oz for such a short time?  I like Singapore, been there many times, what did you do while there?  I did not get to St Lucia, what made it so amazing?

This long email is to catch up sense I got back to the UK.  I’ll send more and quicker responding emails in the future.  I have a lot more quiet time now that I have caught up with all my back-log of work that was waiting for me after three months in South Africa.

Travelling adventurer,

Scott
