Diary entries from May and June 2011

Scott had hundreds of notebooks and annual diaries scattered among the places he lived. Most looked new and were blank, but some had a few entries in them. I just found one such annual diary for 2011 containing scrawled entries for parts of May and June. I will list the range of dates in this one entry, in the hope that someone will recognize the events and add more information.

20 May 2011: Rough day but very good data.

22 May 2011: Fly to Eidenbugh (Edinburgh) Scotland for the KJ (Kommander Jack) (Found an airline ticket for 22 May  from Brussels to Edinburgh)

23-26 May 2011: KJ

27 May 2012: Office Devizes (this is the GEMS office in Devizes)

28 May 2011: Train to Rams Gate (I found an unused return ticket from Dover Priory to Ramsgate for 29 May 2012)

29 May 211: Ferry to Calis (Calias, France) and to Bregge (The ferry would have been from Dover Priory, and perhaps Bregge is Brussels.)

(There is an entry in the travel timeline about a flight on this day based on a passport stamp of BCNJ DOUVRES. I just figured out this is the stamp the French customs people put in your passport when you leave Dover for France on a ferry.)

30 May 2011: Drove Chieftain to Gent BE & survey.  (Gent is probably Ghent, Belguim.  There is a waterway from there to Terneuzen which he may have surveyed.)

31 May, 1 June: Survey

2 June 2011: Fixed Generator on Chieftain

3 June 2011: Went to Calis & Dover & Southampton

4 June 2011: Picked truck up and gt stuff from Devizes & post from Bath then Solva. (Solva is where Scott lived with Rose.

5 June 2011: Only one word and I can’t figure out what it is…starts with a C and may end in le.

7 June 2011: Left for Shetlands on KJ.

8-10 June 2011: KJ

11 June 2011: KJ back to Solva. Car park 51.50, Air fare 39.40.

That is a lot of travelling for about a three week period, and involved work on two differend surveys in different boats.

I think Scott left Chieftain in Belguim for several years, and eventually sold the boat to someone doing survey work over there.
