On July 29, 1986 Steve, Joyce, and Salley formed Info Express Inc. The original focus of the company was on writing and publishing our own line of computer tutorial books (the Quick Course series), writing books for other publishers, and providing editorial and publishing assistance to those other clients. Salley had been the Editorial Director at Microsoft Press and Joyce was the Managing Editor. And I had written half a dozen books for MSP over the previous few years.
I met Scott six months or so earlier and made him a partner in another company I had…Lambert and Associates. Scott made me a little more honest, as with him on board I had one associate.
We got an office at 6141 Bothell Way NE in Kenmore, at the north end of Lake Washington, right above the marina where my boat was moored. It was a convenient location and Scott ended up sharing that office and we all ended up supporting him in various ways. After a while we decided there was no point in maintaining the two companies, so Scott came in as the fourth partner.
