On 13 July 2011 Scott put £10,000 as a deposit on the purchase of Maureen, an 18 meter wooden boat that was originally designed and constructed for environmental research work, and named Forth Ranger. When she ‘retired’ she was purchased by a civilian and converted to a live-aboard cruiser.
He had until November 2011 to pay off the remainder of the £140,000 price, which he did.
